SEAN FARRELL
C12 Chair since 2025

I am a qualified chartered accountant who has worked in financial services for most of my career. After completing my studies at Wits University and articles at Deloitte in Johannesburg South Africa, I spent 3 years in the corporate finance team of Automakers South Africa before joining Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) where I spent 12 years helping build, and eventually lead, their Private Bank. It was shortly after the Global Financial Crisis in early 2010 that I got saved and my life was transformed – from a hardcore numbers guy to someone who has a love and passion to see people succeed and grow in significance by fulfilling their God given calling.
I left RMB at the end of 2010 and moved with my family (wife Sue and 3 children – Liam, Katelyn and Chloe) to the Western Cape where we eventually settled in the beautiful Winelands town of Stellenbosch.
In Early 2011, I joined the team at the Hereford Group as Chief Financial Officer and took the role of Chief Executive Officer of the group’s asset management subsidiary – Seed Investments. In early 2025, I successfully transitioned out of my operational role at Seed so that I could free up time to spend on marketplace ministry opportunities and serving our local church more intentionally.
My wife and I serve in multiple roles within our local church including leading connect groups, teaching, and counselling. I also serve on the Financial Advisory Board and have recently taken on a role of oversight of the support team as well as championing the Business Ministry.
I have served in several roles within the non-profit space too, including:
- Mentor at the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation: 2012 -2016
- Trustee and Chairman of The Bookery: 2013 – 2018
- Trustee and treasurer of Biblical Counselling Africa: 2022 – 2025
I have a heart to serve, and mentoring is a particular passion given the years of experience I have in multiple diverse roles. Helping leaders understand what it means to be a Servant Leader is also an area of focus given the incredible first-hand success I have seen this produce on company culture, employee wellness and results.
In my spare time, I am an avid mountain biker enjoying the many trails that Stellenbosch has to offer. As a family we love nothing better than getting away (at least annually) into the bushveld and Southern African game reserves where we get to spend quality time together and I can hone my skills as a wildlife photographer.
It truly is a great honour to be joining C12 as an Associate Chair in the Western Cape and I look forward to be of service to the incredible Christian CEO’s and business leaders that I will meet in the years ahead.
