Yoke Ming joined Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young) in 1982 after returning from the United Kingdom as a Chartered Account (England and Wales). He joined R.J. Reynolds Sdn. Bhd. in 1989, playing a key role in the “reverse takeover” of Juara Perkasa Corporation Berhad (renamed “RJ Reynolds Berhad” and resultant public listing on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange. He was subsequently appointed Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis for the South East Asian business unit. In 1993, he was seconded to RJ Reynolds International Headquarters for 18 months in North Carolina with responsibilities for financial planning and analysis for Asia and The Americas (covering Puerto Rico, Canada and Latin America). Wong Yoke Ming was also a Group Financial Controller for Hume Industries (Malaysia) Berhad, a member of the Hong Leong Group Malaysia. He also represented Hume on the board of Industrial Concrete Products Berhad and Sarawak Concrete Industries Berhad. His other roles include independent non-executive director for Ho Hup Construction Company Berhad (Chairman of the Risk Management Committee), as well as boards of RHB Group Companies. Wong Yoke Ming was also CEO of Newfields Advisors Sdn. Bhd., a boutique investment advisory firm and Group COO for RHB Capital Bhd.
