From Employee to Executive: The Journey of Leadership Development
As our businesses grow, concentrating leadership accountability in a single person or small group becomes unsustainable. Leaders must prioritize executive talent development to ensure up-and-coming leaders can effectively manage the business of today and prepare for the challenges of tomorrow. In the early years at Power Ad Company, founders Bob and Jen Westerfield managed all of the employees themselves, an arrangement that became unsustainable as the company grew. The Westerfields began investing in leadership development for high-potential employees, Kylene Pippin and Jenny Kuhn, including enrolling them in C12’s Key Player Program. Starting as entry-level employees, both Kylene and Jenny now sit on Power Ad’s executive team and they are investing in the next generation of leaders within the company.
